Mattawan board approves multiple 2024–25 budget amendments and 2025–26 preliminary budget resolutions

The Mattawan Consolidated School Board approved a series of budget amendments and preliminary budget resolutions during its June 23, 2025 meeting.
Board President Ted Roethlisberger called the budget hearing to order at 7:00 a.m., then reconvened the regular meeting at 7:15 a.m. with four members present and three absent (Shari Magrath, Onur Arugaslan and Marika Hawes-Ruhrup).
During new business the board approved the 2024–25 General Fund final budget amendment, the 2024–25 Fund 29 (School & Student Activity Fund) amendment and the 2024–25 Food Service final budget amendment. Motions for these amendments were made and seconded by board members and were recorded as passing by roll call listing Mark Noffsinger, Vickie Mabin-Herzberg, Ted Roethlisberger and Rick George.
The board also approved preliminary budget resolutions for 2025–26: the Preliminary General Budget Resolution, Preliminary Fund 29 (School & Student Activity) and the 2025–26 Food Service Preliminary Budget Resolution. Each preliminary resolution was moved and carried by the same four members present.
The meeting record shows the consent agenda and the budget votes were recorded with Ayes: 4 and Absences: 3 where noted; no additional public comment was recorded on budget items during the hearing.
Next steps: the preliminary 2025–26 budget resolutions were approved on a preliminary basis; the board adopted final 2024–25 amendments to align year-end accounting. The board proceeded to other agenda business and later entered a closed session for contract negotiations.
