Beardstown council approves increase in Class C liquor licenses in 5-3 vote

The Beardstown City Council voted 5-3 on Aug. 6 to adopt an ordinance increasing the number of Class C liquor licenses from 10 to 11 and raising the number of Class I-2 endorsements for Class C licenses from seven to eight. Alderperson Ron Culves moved the ordinance, and Alderperson Shawn Taylor seconded the motion.
The ordinance passed on a roll call vote with Yeas from Alderpersons Ron Culves, Mary Davis, Eric Harbin, Dawn Seward and Shawn Taylor, and Nays from Alderpersons Chris Baer, Lisa Buhlig and Keith Schramm. The motion as stated in the meeting record read: "That an Ordinance Increasing the Number of Class \"C\" Liquor Licenses from Ten to Eleven and the Number of Class \"I-2\" Endorsements for Class \"C\" Licenses from Seven to Eight be adopted."
No public comments were offered before the vote. The minutes show the council moved through routine business and departmental reports earlier in the session; the liquor-license ordinance was a discrete agenda action recorded by roll call vote.
