Maywood approves $1.6 million warrant list and $395,858 MFT contract for 2020 roadway work

The Village of Maywood Board of Trustees on Sept. 15 approved a warrant list totaling $1,607,476.54 and an omnibus package of payments and resolutions that included awarding the 2020 MFT Roadway Improvements Project to M&J Asphalt Paving Company, Inc. for $395,858.50.
Finance Director Lanya Satchell and Village Manager Willie Norfleet answered trustees' questions about several check numbers before the board voted to approve Warrant List No. 200498 through Sept. 4, 2020. The omnibus motion also authorized payment to vendors including Allied Waste Service, Blue Cross Blue Shield, City Wide of Chicago, Village of Melrose Park for water purchases, Hancock Engineering and others listed in the packet.
Trustees approved a resolution to execute the construction contract with M&J Asphalt, to be paid from Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds. The omnibus motion carried with Mayor Edwenna Perkins and all trustees present voting Aye.
The board also approved labor and legal invoices and a contract with Word Systems, LLC for police contract base billing. The omnibus approach grouped numerous vendor payments and resolutions into a single vote; trustees asked for clarification on select line items during the discussion.
