Suffield Board unanimously appoints Laura Norbut as assistant superintendent

The Suffield Board of Education on June 4 unanimously appointed Dr. Laura Norbut to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, voting 7-0 after an executive session to interview candidates.
The action, recorded as MOTION #25-62, was moved by James Mol and seconded by Melissa Finnigan. The motion authorized Superintendent Matt Dunbar to complete the terms of employment for Norbut. All seven board members present voted in favor: Debra Dudack, Melissa Finnigan, James Mol, Gianna Rossi, Maureen Sattan and Michael Sepko and Greg Sparzo.
Board members expressed appreciation for Norbut’s candidacy and said she stood out during the selection process. Dr. Norbut said she left each stage of the process feeling the district is a collaborative team and that her respect for Superintendent Matt Dunbar motivated her to apply for the role.
The meeting opened at 6:30 p.m. in the Central Office Conference Room and the executive session concluded at 7:35 p.m. The board then voted on the appointment and adjourned at 7:41 p.m. The minutes from the special meeting are subject to approval at the regular July 14, 2025 meeting.
