Cunningham Township Board approves minutes, Jan. 6–30 bills and annual town meeting agenda

The Cunningham Township Board convened on Monday, March 9, and approved prior minutes, bills covering Jan. 6–30, 2026, and the agenda for the upcoming annual town meeting.

During the opening business the board moved and seconded approval of the Dec. 8, 2025 meeting minutes; the chair called for corrections, heard none and the motion passed on a voice vote.

Supervisor Chaney presented the town’s reported expenditures for Jan. 6–30, 2026: $42,173.24 from the town fund and $231,237.96 from the general assistance fund, for a combined total of $273,411.20. The board voted to approve those bills after a motion, and the clerk called the roll. Trustees present recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed.

The clerk explained that the annual town meeting is a meeting of the electorate (registered township voters) held the second Tuesday in April at 6 p.m., and noted that the township verified an eligible petition for a nonbinding advisory referendum with more than the 15 required signatories. The clerk said the township will publish notice at City Hall, the Urbana Free Library and the supervisor’s office at 205 West Green Street.

A motion to approve the annual town meeting agenda was made and seconded; the clerk again called the roll and trustees voted to approve the agenda.

What the votes were: For both roll-call matters (approval of the Jan. 6–30 bills and approval of the annual town meeting agenda) the clerk recorded affirmative votes from the trustees. The board also approved the minutes by voice vote earlier in the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned with no further business and a brief break before the city council meeting.
