Selectmen on Sept. 29 asked the Economic Development Advisory Council to review expected parking impacts from a proposed winter road closure and winter-parking ordinance changes, and the board said it will hold a second public hearing before making a final decision.
A selectman asked that EDAC weigh in because the council was chartered to advise on economic development matters. "I'd like to see if EDAC can weigh in on the parking issues that we're dealing about the possible road closure for the winter... I'd like to hear back what they're gonna do," the board member said. Town staff agreed to place the item on the EDAC agenda and noted a second public hearing is scheduled before a possible final vote.
Separately, a board member reported that a grant application valued at $1,300,000 has advanced to the full state senate for a vote. "The grant that we applied for, the 1,300,000.0, has moved into the full senate for a vote," the selectman said, and the board welcomed the news.
The board also reviewed volunteers needed across committees — including openings on the Master Plan committee, Energy Advisory Committee (two full members and two alternates), Recreation Commission (two alternates), Recycling Solid Waste Committee (one full member and one alternate), Traffic Safety Committee (one citizen member), and the Zoning Board of Adjustment (one alternate) — and announced the next regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 13 (hybrid with Zoom access posted by Oct. 10).
The board will place the revised winter-parking ordinance in the next packet for review and expects to discuss it again at its Oct. 13 meeting.
