The Milford Board of Selectmen unanimously approved Amendment No. 3 to the Milford pedestrian traffic improvement project on Nov. 24, adding cultural‑resources work for the Oval and design and permitting of the South Street parking lot.
Nicole, a town project staffer, told the board the contractor VHB unintentionally omitted some spreadsheet cells in the amendment’s estimate; the corrected total for the amendment is $37,009.55 and the town’s 20% local match is $7,591.08. The chair restated the motion to approve the amendment for State Project No. 42470 and identified the funding account for the local match as 4600‑46220‑573000.
Selectwoman Tina Philbrick moved the motion to approve the amendment and a board member seconded. After questions about which budget year the local match would be charged to and confirmation that the special‑purpose account holds the funds, the board voted by voice and the motion carried unanimously.
Board members also discussed the project schedule and said preliminary design and permitting are expected to be complete early next year, with a plan to advertise for construction bids in 2026 and start construction in 2027. Staff said the project will be phased, with new parking lots first, then the South Street library lot and the Oval.
The board’s vote authorizes the town administrator to accept and execute the amendment consistent with the board motion.
