Millville Elementary water pilot: permits in hand; installation expected by mid‑October, district to provide bottled water and publish test results

Millville and district representatives told the Blackstone‑Millville School Committee on July 21 that permits for a pilot water‑treatment system at Millville Elementary are in hand and construction began July 15.
"We have the permits, so that's all set," a Millville presenter said, adding that the vendor had been contacted and the equipment "should ship any day this week, but it will ship definitely by the end of the week." The presenter summarized the previously presented timeline and said, "from on the timeline that we had in May, it was 3 months for installation, so we feel very confident that that will be done by October 15."
The committee discussed testing and transparency. Members asked whether monthly testing results would be posted on Millville's website; presenters said test results have been posted and they will provide distilled, accessible summaries. The water presenter noted that recent DBP (disinfection byproduct) testing over the past three months (not including July) had been "moving way down below the maximum contaminant level that has dinged us in the past," and the district offered to provide quarterly updates at committee meetings and invite the water operator when appropriate.
During the transition period, administrators reiterated that bottled water will continue to be supplied for drinking and cooking in the school. The committee asked the administration to publish simplified testing summaries so residents can interpret technical results more easily and agreed to review progress at the August 21 meeting.
