Resident raises access, survey concerns for Elizabeth Oaks development

During the petitions and requests portion of the April 8 meeting, Stan Johnson of Titusville told the commission he had sent staff an email and raised concerns about the S & J Oaks (also called Elizabeth Oaks) subdivision and a street shown as Mockingbird Lane.

Johnson said the surveyor and engineer working on the project removed the street and stop sign from platting, narrowed what was shown as a two‑way cleared way into a driveway serving fewer lots than promised and left the last house with no access. "They did that illegally to enhance and increase the number of units the project can service," he said.

He asked commissioners to visit the site and review the sketch plan and noted that the project was approved by Planning & Zoning and council in 2021 and will be reviewed by council again because of the issues he raised. Johnson also said trees promised to be retained were outside of the fenced area and that the driveway ran directly into a new fence, creating a potential crash hazard.

The commission did not take action on the comment at the meeting; staff and the council review process were referenced as the next steps during the discussion on other agenda items.
