The studio owner, who identified herself as the owner of Thoughtworks, told commissioners the business opened four weeks ago and serves about 250 members with six on‑site spaces. "Accessible short term parking is essential to accommodate this turnover and ensure safe timely access for the members," she said, adding that members visit at all hours and vehicles sometimes remain parked for days, blocking curb access.
Committee members clarified enforcement and outreach: Hahn said the local two‑hour parking rule is enforceable between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and that staff mailed notices to property owners within 300 feet. One commissioner asked whether a vehicle already parked at 8 a.m. could be ticketed immediately; staff could not confirm the precise enforcement timing during the meeting.
A motion by a committee member to adopt staff's alternate plan — five signed two‑hour stalls on the east side — was seconded and approved in a voice vote recorded on the transcript as "Aye" by members present. The commission directed staff to proceed with signage (no curb paint) and to coordinate with parking enforcement on implementation and outreach.
The action is intended to improve short‑term turnover for nearby businesses while retaining unrestricted parking on the west side to serve residents and the post office across the street. Staff will implement the signage and monitor effects; any future changes would return to the commission.
