Miami Lakes committee approves event form to preserve unspent Black History Month funds for new initiative

The chair said the town now requires a filled form in addition to the memo used in prior years and moved to approve the form with the memo’s content; the committee seconded and approved the motion on a voice vote. "So I make a motion to approve the form with the content of the memo," the chair said before members voted in favor.
Members emphasized the need to file the form before the fiscal year ends so unspent funds are not lost. The committee noted the event would follow the same process used previously for the Women of Distinction program and that more planning and category definition will follow before final event approval.
The committee directed staff to submit the completed event request form to the council’s template and to prepare the event materials needed for the June 4 special call on committee budgets, where committees must present event dates, estimated attendance and prior-year sponsorship dollars.
