Measure HH: Carlsbad bond work shows progress at Aviara Oaks and Valley; traffic changes to follow

In a monthly Measure HH update, district staff said interior renovations and new classroom buildings at Aviara Oaks Elementary and Valley Middle School are largely complete and ready for the start of school, though exterior landscaping, stormwater permits and final curb appeal work remain.
Mr. Dill told trustees he visited campuses multiple times over the summer and described newly built modular classroom buildings at Aviara Oaks and interior renovations including new kindergarten restrooms. He said the district still awaits stormwater permits required to finish exterior grading and retention basins, and that final traffic improvements are planned next summer in coordination with the city.
Dill reported that the City of Carlsbad Traffic Commission reacted positively to proposed restriping and lane adjustments intended to improve safety without requiring major street widening; staff will take the plan to city council before construction. He said Valley Middle School's quad and administration-building work will be complete and that Calavera Hills' STEM lab and other projects are finished.
Dill said staff will return with final plan reviews at the September 11 meeting and expects to bring bond-sale authorization resolutions later this year.
