Imlay City Board authorizes president to appoint committee members; trustee declines marketing assignment

The Imlay City Board of Education voted 6-1 on Jan. 26 to authorize the board president to appoint individual trustees to committee assignments under Bylaw 0154.
Trustee Ashley Wolford moved the measure and Trustee Laura Zelenak seconded it; the roll call vote recorded Ayes from Sharon Muir, Kaylee Kaeding, Doug Van Dyk, Greg Dennis, Ashley Wolford and Laura Zelenak and a Nay from Trustee Alex Lengemann. The motion passed.
President Sharon Muir said, to preserve continuity, the board would leave committee memberships as they had been appointed in January 2025 with one exception. Muir appointed Trustee Lengemann to the Marketing/Public Relations committee; Lengemann declined the assignment.
The meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. with seven trustees present and 17 guests; the pledge of allegiance was recited. Treasurer Doug Van Dyk moved to adjourn at 7:05 p.m., a motion seconded by Vice President Kaylee Kaeding, and President Muir adjourned the organizational meeting by a show of hands.
The minutes list an approval date of Feb. 23, 2026, and are signed by President Sharon Muir and Secretary Melissa Fleury.
