The Perris Union High School District board on Wednesday adopted its 2025–26 budget and approved multiple personnel actions following a report out of closed session.
A closed-session report said the board approved an Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) settlement agreement by a 5–0 vote and took personnel actions in closed session, including appointing Ricardo Garcia Felix as principal of Harris High School (the meeting record shows the appointment carried 4–1) and approving James Heckman as director of technology effective June 19, 2025 (unanimous).
On the open agenda the board approved several resolutions and routine personnel items. Trustees voted 4 in favor and 1 abstention on Resolution No. 37-2425, concerning trustee compensation for a missed meeting. The board later adopted the district’s 2025–26 budget by a 5–0 vote.
The board also debated a response to the U.S. Department of Justice regarding CIF bylaw 300(b) and, after discussion and a failed motion to table, directed staff to send the letter as drafted. That direction passed 3–1–1 (three in favor, one opposed, one abstention).
Board members said they will continue to monitor the implementation of the budget and personnel transitions. The meeting record shows staff will provide additional follow-up where motions or funding require further detail.
