The chair of the Hacienda la Puente Unified board canceled a special session Sunday evening after several board members failed to attend and accused some colleagues of supporting the sale of district property.
The chair opened the session by telling those present the meeting had been called to address “very serious matters” and that they had confirmed attendance with board members in advance. The chair said Mr. Kwok and Ms. Loda had confirmed earlier but did not show up, calling their last-minute absences “extremely disrespectful.”
“I wouldn’t take your time if it was an absolutely serious matter,” the chair said, adding later, “the same people that wanna sell our school properties didn’t show up.” The chair said they would address the matters “in other meetings” rather than delay action.
During the remarks an attendee identified in the transcript as Miss Salazar repeatedly interjected. The chair called the behavior a disruption and asked that she be removed from the meeting, saying, “Please take her out of the meeting right now.” The chair concluded by stating the time of the record as 06:46 PM and directed that the record show that “Miss Salazar continued to interject herself as I was speaking.”
No motions or formal votes were recorded in the transcript. The chair said the topics raised in the special session would be discussed at other meetings; the transcript does not specify which items or any timeline for follow-up.
