Pingree Grove approves 2026 street repairs, skate-park contract and a public-works truck purchase

Staff recommended awarding the 2026 Streets program to Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc. as the low, qualified bidder at $477,867.97; staff and the village engineer noted only two bids were received and recommended proceeding. Brock, a staff engineer, said if approved a preconstruction meeting would be scheduled within weeks with contracts issued and a target completion date of June 15.
For the skate-park improvements, staff recommended awarding the installation and equipment contract to Martin Construction for $1,327,558. Andy noted that including previously authorized equipment purchases the total project budget aligns with the board's earlier figure of about $1.67 million; staff also mentioned a potential $600,000 reimbursement from Auslan to offset costs. Brock said the skate-park work would start in May and aim to be open by Labor Day.
The board also authorized the public works director to purchase a 2026 Ford F-350 with accessory equipment through Huntley Ford, not to exceed $74,500. Pat, the public works director, said some parts of the purchase would be charged to FY26 and some to FY27 and that the vehicle was for an additional budgeted staff position.
Each item was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
