Council introduces ordinance to add handicap parking space; adopts multi-item consent agenda

At the Oct. 14 meeting the council introduced Ordinance 45-20-25, which would amend Chapter 170 (Vehicles and Traffic) to add a new handicap parking space in Section 49.2. The ordinance passed its first reading and was scheduled for final passage at the council’s Oct. 28, 2025 meeting; the clerk was directed to publish the required notice.

Following the ordinance introduction, council members moved and adopted a consent agenda that bundled multiple routine resolutions. Notable items listed by the clerk included a resolution authorizing payment of bills, tax refunds for county/state board judgments and overpayments, endorsement of the Bergen County Community Development Grant, a 100% veteran tax exemption for 150 Port Street, authorization to hire a police officer, an appointment to the Teterboro Aircraft Noise Advisory Committee, release of escrow for 324–326 Washington Ave., raffle licenses, and leave-of-absence and accumulated-leave payouts. The clerk read two accumulated-leave payouts: $27,647.97 to retired city clerk Deborah Carlson and $142,574.74 to retired fire chief Anthony Real; those items were included in the adopted consent agenda.

The ordinance and consent agenda items were adopted on voice votes recorded as "Aye." No roll-call breakdowns were read into the record for those actions.
