Lancaster ISD staff presented the annual renewal of the district’s five‑year food-service contract with Southwest Food Service Excellence (SFE) for the 2026–27 school year. Dr. Kimbrough told trustees TDA approval was secured March 16 and the contract terms and services remain the same; the only change is a 3.9% rate increase, which SFE calculates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer-price index for food away from home and is the maximum allowable increase reported to the board.
Services covered by the contract include school breakfast, National School Lunch, after-school care meals, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (dinner/CACFP), the seamless summer option, adult meals, catering and à la carte lines. SFE general manager Michael McAfee and district manager Destin Seymour addressed the board and thanked trustees for the renewal.
No board objections were raised during the work session. Trustees and staff noted the federal reimbursement rate generally steps up with the CPI-based rate calculation, and staff said district reimbursement calculations reflect that relationship. The board will consider the formal renewal on the regular meeting agenda as required.
