Community Development Director Eric Jensen reviewed the 2024 Comprehensive Plan periodic update and Department of Commerce review comments at the Dec. 18 City Council meeting, and councilmembers requested additional review before adoption.
Councilmembers asked staff to send the revised draft and agency comments back to the Planning Commission for review and requested the Planning Commission schedule a meeting Jan. 7. Council also directed staff to place a public hearing on the draft for the City Council meeting on Jan. 15 and to add the agency comment letters into the report.
The discussion referenced proposed Ordinance No. 1058-2024 and focused on meeting agency recommendations and clarifications to the draft plan. The minutes record this as a direction to pursue additional review and public engagement rather than a final adoption vote.
Next procedural steps recorded in the minutes: Planning Commission review the updated draft (requested Jan. 7 meeting) and a City Council public hearing Jan. 15 on the revised plan.
