Warrenville proclaims Earth Day, Arbor Day and National Volunteer Week; Arbor Day celebration set for April 26

Brummell encouraged residents to learn ways to improve the environment and to support local tree-planting and stewardship efforts. He invited David Romero, introduced as a staff liaison for the Environmental Advisory Commission, to receive proclamations. Romero thanked the mayor and council for their continued support and noted the commission’s efforts to promote environmental education and a healthy community.
The mayor announced an Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 26, starting at 10 a.m. at the Warrenville Park District Recreation Center. He said the event will include native trees and plants and items for sale to benefit the Warrenville in Bloom volunteer effort; the Environmental Advisory Commission worked with the inclusion, diversity and equity committee to make this year’s event autism-friendly and provide quiet spaces for attendees who need them.
"As state staff liaison for the Environmental Advisory Commission, I just wanna thank Mayor Brummell and all city council for your constant support of the commission's initiatives," Romero said.
The proclamations are ceremonial and do not impose regulatory change; the mayor urged residents to participate in volunteer and educational activities tied to the observances.
