Chad Boyd, director of public works, told the board staff used a Johnson County master agreement and bid specifications developed with area cities to secure the needed vehicle and options. Boyd said local dealers were invited but generally could not match fleet pricing for this vehicle class.
Commissioner Kelly moved to authorize the chair to execute the contract with Shawnee Mission Ford ($75,711) for the truck and with American Equipment Company ($63,129) for installation; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Staff said the purchase uses an established cooperative agreement and provides a vehicle with required specifications and a favorable price. There was no public comment on the item.
