The Merrimack Town Council on March 26 approved a set of administrative, safety and capital actions in a single series of votes.
Safety manual and joint loss committee: Rhonda Flynn (public works) presented proposed changes to the townwide safety manual—largely housekeeping and clarifications including meeting recording/notice language, clarified investigation responsibilities for non‑motor vehicle personal‑injury incidents, optional motor‑vehicle accident kit clarifications and the addition of eyewash-station requirements in shops. The council voted to accept the manual updates (unanimous, 7–0–0).
Reappointment: The council unanimously reappointed Karen Elmer as one of Merrimack’s representatives to the regional planning commission (approved 7–0–0).
Capital purchases and withdrawals (votes at a glance): - Wastewater boom lift: authorized release of up to $61,115 (after trade‑in) from the wastewater CIP/sewer infrastructure capital reserve fund for a replacement boom lift; motion passed 7–0–0. - Fire thermal imaging cameras: authorized withdrawal of up to $25,000 from the Fire Equipment Capital Reserve Fund to complete department‑wide deployment; motion passed 7–0–0. - Fire UTV: authorized withdrawal of up to $40,000 for a utility terrain vehicle and accessories for remote‑area response and personnel transport; motion passed 7–0–0. - Fire rigid‑hull rescue boat: authorized withdrawal of up to $50,000 to acquire a rigid‑hull jet‑drive rescue boat and included ancillaries; motion passed 7–0–0. - Use of donated surplus ($654.87) for additional canoe/kayak rack at Wasserman Park: approved 6–0–0 (one councilor briefly excused during call).
Councilors asked about warranties, storage, interoperability with neighboring towns’ equipment, and potential additional accessory costs (trailers, lights, radios). Staff indicated some accessories may be purchased later if not covered in initial estimates and that radios and navigation lights are planned or included where required.
All capital motions were approved without recorded opposition; councilors emphasized safety and regional interoperability in authorizing the emergency‑services purchases.
