Horace County commissioners approve plow-permit amendment; approve expenditures and minutes

The Horace County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 5 moved to amend a previously approved plow permit for Montreal Sports Products and approved routine expenditures and minutes.
Chair made the motion to amend the plow permit to cover an additional 0.6-mile segment from the Cottonwood compressor station to the Ormiston turnoff and to add an additional $100 permit fee; a director seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote. "This would be an amendment to that, and I do see additional $100 for this permit," the chair said during the discussion.
Earlier the board considered routine financial business. The chair asked for questions on expenditures, moved to approve the reported expenditures, and the board approved them by voice vote. Commissioners also reviewed and approved minutes for meetings on Nov. 3, Nov. 17 and Nov. 24, 2025.
A county director summarized department financials and recent state correspondence: the director said year-end expenditures in protective services and county administration are running higher than the period allocation but that the county expects to cover those overages from fund balance. The director also said the county received a state request for information about district hubs and that the implementation timeline has been extended, noting a target in 2027 and offering to circulate the RFI or a summary to the board. "We would go sometime in July or December 2027," the director said.
The meeting adjourned after the board completed its agenda.
