Imlay City hires Borland behavior support specialist, retains current health curriculum

The Imlay City Board of Education on Nov. 24 approved the hiring of Elizabeth Hampton as Borland Elementary Student Support Specialist and added her employment contract to the agenda before voting unanimously to approve it.
Dr. Stu Cameron, superintendent, introduced Hampton and noted her Bachelor of Social Work from Oakland University and prior role as Great Start Collaborative Coordinator at LCISD. The contract is effective Dec. 2, 2025; Human Resources was directed to complete onboarding tasks.
Cameron and Dr. Dina Tallis, executive director of curriculum and instruction, reported that they had reviewed revised health standards and guidelines and decided the district will continue with the health curriculum already in place. The administration also said it has contracted two Behavioral Technicians for Weston Elementary to provide additional student supports.
During public comment, parent Rae Burrell raised concerns about her child and another student at Borland Elementary and welcomed the district's decision to add a Student Support Specialist. Teacher Kristine Thibodeau also thanked the board and administration for hiring an additional kindergarten teacher.
The board completed onboarding approvals and adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
