Board weighs lease-fee increases and ratifies location‑release request for Dick's Sporting Goods documentary

On April 6 the Mount Lebanon School District board reviewed a package of facilities and lease items, including a location‑release for Dick's Sporting Goods to film at the high‑school stadium and proposed 3.5% increases to a range of rental and lease fees for 2026–27.

The superintendent said the release for Dick's Sporting Goods and production partner Voyage Visuals would permit use of names, slogans, logos, uniforms and archival footage for a short documentary/commercial highlighting local athlete Eli Heidenreich, who is expected to appear as part of an NFL‑draft feature. "They are producing a short documentary slash commercial to feature two local athletes ... Our local athlete is Eli Heidenreich," Doctor Fries said. Administration recommended ratification of the release.

Staff proposed a uniform 3.5% increase in facilities rental fees (Monday–Saturday), stadium occupancy license fees, and Sunday rental fees for 2026–27. The board also reviewed summer leases for Mount Lebanon extended‑day program (June 15–07/31/2026) at $15,149.83 and school‑year extended‑day leases totaling $37,701.38 for use of elementary‑school space.

Board members discussed a new parking‑lot rental fee because outside groups have requested use of school parking. Administration said rentals would be limited by the district schedule (avoiding conflicts with school events) and that fees reflect lighting, custodial and cleanup costs.

Also on the facilities calendar was an agreement with the Mount Lebanon Aqua Club (08/31/2026–08/31/2027) with a 3.5% cost increase; the superintendent recommended approval of that agreement.

Next steps: The superintendent recommended approval on several items; individual approvals and formal votes will be scheduled through the board’s consent agenda or future meetings as appropriate.
