Edwardsburg council approves February budget amendments, sets March public hearing for proposed 2026–27 budget

The Edwardsburg Village Council on Feb. 16 approved February budget amendments and scheduled a public hearing on the proposed 2026–2027 budget for 6:15 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 during the regular council meeting.
Trustee Kellen Van Hulle moved to approve the February budget amendments; Trustee Sam Garwood seconded the motion and it passed on a roll call vote with all trustees voting in favor. The council also set the public hearing on the proposed 2026–2027 budget at the March meeting (motion by Van Hulle, seconded by Garwood; all in favor).
Earlier in the meeting the council approved routine finance items: Trustee Van Hulle moved, supported by Trustee Terry Bidwell, to approve the Revenue and Expenditure Report showing the balance as of Jan. 31, 2026; that motion passed by roll call. The council approved the Jan. 19, 2026 regular meeting minutes (motion by Bidwell, supported by Laura Hughes) and approved the check register — checks #39166–39208 and EFT checks #150392–150408 — totaling $53,137.01 (motion by Van Hulle, supported by Sam Garwood; roll call vote). Treasurer Paula Ralph reported unaudited receipts for January 2026 of $88,193.78.
The public hearing will provide an opportunity for residents to comment on the details of the proposed 2026–2027 budget before final adoption. The council adjourned at 6:46 p.m.
