Harrison Township OKs Phase One assessment and design services for Fire Station 1

The Harrison Township Board of Trustees approved on June 23 a contract with Partners in Architecture (PIA) for Phase One assessment and design services for Fire Station 1, the building officials reported.
Fire Station 1, built in 1972, has exceeded its intended functional life, township officials said. PIA — which previously assisted the township with Station 1 assessment work and with design and construction of the Police Mini Station — proposed Phase One services that include assessment, analysis, programming, design and cost modeling to prepare for Phase Two (bidding and construction). The board approved contracting with PIA for Phase One services at a cost not to exceed $29,100. Motion by Trustee Brian Batkins; second by Clerk Adam Wit; motion carried.
Township officials said Phase Two would precede bidding and construction. The contract seeks to update the earlier assessment and provide cost estimates and programming information necessary for design decisions and procurement.
