"MCOE families aren't receiving any of the flyers in Spanish or Hmong ever," Margaret Sprawl told the board, saying more than 450 people have signed a petition asking the district to fix the forwarding and access problems. Sprawl said at one campus MCOE families received four of 22 announcements; Brianna Largay, a parent of a severely disabled student, echoed those concerns and said the integration work to add MCOE rosters to ParentSquare has not reached her family in practice.
Trustees and district staff acknowledged the work under way to integrate MCOE class rosters into district communication platforms but agreed the delays are harming families’ ability to participate in campus life. Director Aaron Alexander said the district is working on roster integration and thanked families for raising the issue; trustees asked staff to return with a district‑wide communications policy to ensure equity and real‑time access for all families regardless of program placement.
What trustees asked for next: staff to provide (1) a clear timeline for completing ParentSquare roster integration for MCOE classes, (2) a draft district policy guaranteeing equal access to site communications and (3) documentation on what has been implemented at each campus to date.
