Harrison Township trustees approve $1.26M in bills, adopt charitable-gaming resolution and handle routine business

Trustee Brian Batkins moved and Trustee Liza Brown seconded the Consent Agenda; the motion carried. The board later voted to add two items to the regular agenda: a charitable-gaming resolution for the North Star Sail Club’s Junior Sailing program and concurrence with emergency SMART bus repairs.
On the charitable-gaming item, the board adopted a local governing body resolution recognizing the North Star Sail Club's Junior Sailing program as a nonprofit operating in the community so it may apply for a state raffle license. The minutes record the vote: AYES—Kenneth Verkest, Adam Wit, Lawrence Tomenello, Brian Batkins and Liza Brown; NAYS—none; EXCUSED—David Bratto and Dean Olgiati. The resolution was adopted.
The board also concurred with an emergency expense to replace the transmission on SMART shuttle #36124, authorizing the repair at a cost not to exceed $6,000 after an estimate of $5,864.40. Supervisor Verkest provided announcements about parks and library programs during the meeting. Resident C. William Bardill offered public comments on several items; the minutes do not detail his remarks. The meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
