Supervisor Kenneth Verkest said the Extendaire II kit updates the buddy breather auxiliary airline and is expected to extend the service life of the current air packs to a total of about 20 years (to roughly 2033). The board heard that purchasing twenty‑four new air packs would cost between $220,000 and $240,000, and that the upgrade is expected to save the township money over the next seven years.
Motion by Clerk Adam Wit, seconded by Trustee David Bratto, to approve the purchase carried unanimously.
Next steps: Clerk/Finance to process the $31,700 procurement and update equipment maintenance records to reflect the extended service life.
