The Plymouth Select Board approved a purchase order for Ridgeway Construction to provide summer sweeping services for town roads and parking lots and signed the memorandum of understanding with the Plymouth Professional Firefighters Association.
Highway staff said Ridgeway offered a favorable rate and provides full eight-hour service days, making them a preferred vendor. A motion to award Ridgeway Construction a $22,500 contract for sweeping services (100 hours of summer service with additional call-ins at staff request) was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members discussed whether buying a sweeper or sharing equipment regionally would ever be more cost-effective but agreed the contracted approach was budgeted and appropriate this year.
Separately, the board moved to sign the firefighters memorandum of understanding and employment contract that had been approved at town meeting. The motion to sign was seconded and approved by voice vote; board members confirmed there were no surprises in the final agreement.
The board asked staff to prepare the signed contract documents, purchase orders and insurance certificate paperwork for filing and signature.
