Sponsor Senator Bohachik told the committee the change in the committee amendment shifts the reporting duty from health insurers to pharmacists because existing administrative rules already require pharmacists to include specific data on the point‑of‑sale document. "So we're just gonna disclose on the point of sale doc what the national average drug acquisition cost is," Bohachik said, noting NADAC is a publicly published figure but not always easy for consumers to find.
The sponsor and supporters said the intent is transparency: consumers seeing NADAC alongside the price they paid might contact their insurer or otherwise respond if the difference appears large. The chairman took the amendment by consent and moved the bill to the committee's next stage.
The committee did not take additional substantive amendment language at the hearing. The next procedural step is whatever the committee chair schedules (the bill was advanced for further consideration).
