Rosebud County adopts deferred compensation agreement for employees, passes resolution to join state plan

Rosebud County officials on March 31 approved a deferred compensation adoption agreement that allows county employees to contribute to a deferred compensation program administered alongside the Public Employees Retirement Board and passed Resolution 2026-10 to join the State of Montana 04/5017 deferred compensation plan.

The agreement, introduced by the Chair, lets employees elect to defer part of their pay into the program; the Chair said the plan carries no county match and therefore creates no expense for the county. Committee member supported the move as a way for younger employees to build retirement savings.

The board voted to approve both the local adoption agreement and the resolution to join the state plan. The meeting record shows a motion to approve the adoption agreement followed by a recorded “aye” vote and a separate motion and recorded “aye” vote to adopt Resolution 2026-10; both motions carried.
