The Senate Rules and Legislative Procedure Committee advanced Senate Bill 176 after the bill’s sponsor said firearms-related language previously in the measure had been removed.
Senator Toms told the committee that language from January that would have allowed justices to carry firearms in the same locations as law enforcement was determined non-germane and was therefore stripped from the bill earlier in the process.
A motion to advance SB 176 passed on a roll call the Chair announced as 11–0. No further debate or amendments were recorded in the transcript.
The committee recessed after completing its agenda.
