Board approves routine agenda items, moves tentative budget for public hearing

The Branchburg Township School District board approved a series of routine agenda items across governance, policy, curriculum, personnel and finance during its meeting, and moved the district’s tentative budget to a public hearing.

Chair-led motions grouped multiple items and each slate was advanced by voice and roll call. Governance business included approval of minutes and several HIB (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying) reports. Policy items were advanced on their second reading and some regulations were abolished. Curriculum and instruction approvals covered conference participation, observation hours for clinical experience and student teaching, an out-of-district program for 2025–26, and a service agreement. Personnel items included leaves, revisions to co-curricular clubs, retirement acknowledgments, substitute and bus aide approvals, and resignations; the board publicly thanked bus driver Peter Spalletti for his years of service.

On finance and facilities, the board moved several items including confirmation of a Chromebook purchase, approval of donations and grants, adoption of the Branchburg Township School District tentative budget for public hearing, acceptance of local food-for-schools grants, a partnership with the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, and continuation/submission of a Focus 1 grant. The motions were seconded and carried on roll call.

The roll-call exchanges recorded routine 'Yes' votes from multiple members; the transcript records at least two abstentions raised verbally during roll calls (one member stated an abstention on a particular item and another abstained on a different item). The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that carried unanimously.
