A meeting participant requested the funds to pay for two veterinarians for the clinic and said other partners (Spay Montana and Kootenay Pets for Life) are covering additional veterinary costs. "I'm requesting $4,000 to pay for 2 vets at the spay neuter clinic that is scheduled for June," the requester said.
Volunteer Cindy Filler of Kootenay Pets for Life testified in support, outlining partnerships with the county health department, local volunteers and community donations. Filler said the planned clinic could alter at least 200 pets and that the operation has recruited about 40 volunteers and secured donated rooms, meals and laundry services for the vets.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the $4,000 allocation by voice vote. Staff were instructed about filing the claim and ensuring proper coding for reimbursement.
