Engineering: North and West plants expected to finish together in September 2024; UV equipment and easements needed

Hall Engineering told the council that North and West wastewater plants are expected to be completed around the same time in September 2024; a change order to adjust the completion date will be considered at the next meeting and easements are needed for delivery of UV equipment to the North Plant.
Albia — At the April 15 meeting Hall Engineering provided the council with a construction update on the city's wastewater projects. Nancy Buss said the North and West plant projects are tracking to be completed at approximately the same time in September 2024 and that the council should expect a change order to extend the contract completion date to appear on the next meeting agenda.
Buss also advised that ultraviolet (UV) disinfection equipment must be delivered to the North Plant and that easements for road use will be required to permit delivery. The council tabled action on written construction reports because no written reports were available for review at the meeting.
Why it matters: Project scheduling and easements affect contractor access, delivery timing and overall project cost and completion. The council will consider a change order at a future meeting that will formally update the contract completion date.
