Ross Whitehead gave the facilities committee a progress report on the new athletic stadium and related site projects. He said striping and bleachers are complete, the field house metal roof and plumbing work are underway, and the remaining items include doors, windows and accessibility work. "The only thing out of the ordinary that we have is the fact that the rubberizing for the track portion may not be ready in time" for graduation, he said, citing temperature constraints on the surfacing work.
Whitehead told the committee the primary obstacle to temporary occupancy is accessibility: the ADA ramp and related access work must be finished before the district can pursue a temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO). He said contractors expect all but the track surface to be complete in time for graduation but that contingency plans for the event are in place.
On finances, Whitehead reported a hard-construction bid of $11,600,000 and payments to date of $8,700,000; he said the project still carries a large contingency and some remaining soft costs, such as architectural fees. Whitehead also updated the committee on Cedar Brook and Glenside, noting roughly $1,000,000 in design fees for Cedar Brook and about $400,000 in design fees for Glenside, with initial construction invoices just beginning to arrive.
Board members asked for follow-up on restroom completion and ramp status because those items affect temporary occupancy and communications to the community. Whitehead said staff will provide additional timeline details to support any public announcements and contingency planning.
