Mister Sansone, the airport manager, told the commission the airport recently signed a lease for a new hangar measuring 100 by 100 feet (about 10,000 square feet) with a 50-foot setback. "It's going to be on Ramp Delta directly across... we would actually where we park the plains on the grass now," he said. He said the lessee intends to base up to three jets there, though he expected only one would be based regularly.
Sansone said the lease term is 30 years. He told commissioners the lease rate is set in the county's fee schedule, which the county council approved; Sansone declined to share the specific negotiated rate at the meeting. He characterized the lease as a county-council-approved agreement handled under existing ordinance procedures.
Separately, Sansone said the airport has a waiting list of about 70 people for hangar space (a list that had accumulated over several years) and that staff had been contacting names on that list to determine whether people sought rental or purchase options. He said no new leases for existing hangars had been signed in the prior 90 days but that he expected to sign one lease the following week.
Commissioners asked for additional breakdowns of contractual services and grounds-maintenance costs that appear in the contractual-services line item; Sansone acknowledged the need to supply a clearer itemization in subsequent materials.
