The Carlsbad Planning Commission selected Commissioner Means to serve as vice chair for the remainder of the term on May 15. Mr. Lardy explained that the City Clerk is leading the reappointment process and recommended a straw poll before a formal motion. The commission then moved, seconded and approved the appointment unanimously (5–0, Commissioner Lafferty absent).
Commissioner Stein said Commissioner Means would be an "excellent vice chair" and noted Means has past service as chair and vice chair; other commissioners supported the nomination. Mr. Lardy said the term would end in December with reappointment to follow in January.
The appointment was carried by voice vote and the commission congratulated the newly appointed vice chair.
