Board approves Siemens and QKA contracts for Phase 2 HVAC under bond program

The Redwood City School District Board voted to approve bond consent items and moved forward with two bond-funded HVAC actions on Sept. 10.
District staff recommended a preconstruction services agreement with Siemens Building Management System for Phase 2 of the HVAC upgrade. Staff said Siemens is the district standard for building management and mechanical controls and presented the contract as a piggyback of a Sourcewell cooperative purchase. Trustees asked no substantive questions and approved the motion.
Trustees separately approved an architectural/design contract with QKA for phase-2 HVAC design work; staff said QKA submitted the lowest proposal and has experience from phase 1. The board passed the motion to award QKA the contract.
Why it matters: These contracts continue work under the district's Measure bond program to upgrade HVAC systems at district campuses; trustees signaled support to maintain project momentum.
