Oakdale Joint Unified holds LCAP public hearing, staff outlines goals on interventions and equity

Oakdale Joint Unified School District staff opened a public hearing on the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), presenting Year 1 of a three-year plan and outlining goals, metrics and actions intended to support student achievement and equity.
Staff described four broad district goals: (1) sustained college and career readiness for K–12 students; (2) strategic and accelerated intervention in academics and behavioral/mental health for identified at‑risk students, including students with disabilities and English learners; (3) maintaining facilities, transportation and technology to support a secure learning environment; and (4) a focused equity multiplier allocation directed to East Stanislaus Continuation Academy to increase academic success at that site. Staff said the fourth goal is limited by statute to the named school and cannot be used districtwide.
The presentation listed specific metrics staff will monitor, including English and math indicators, CAASPP results, graduation and suspension rates, chronic absenteeism and English learner reclassification. Staff noted investments such as a recently hired reading specialist, learning labs for elementary intervention, credit recovery and summer programs, increased course offerings for in‑person electives, and support for CTE and A–G completion. Parent engagement was raised: the parent involvement survey had 121 respondents this year, a decline staff said limited the strength of that dataset.
Staff also connected LCAP actions to operational supports: curriculum adoption and professional learning communities, new teacher induction, special education curricula and co-teaching training, and server/technology updates. The LCAP and charter LCAP documents were made available on the district website under Board of Trustees reports.
The hearing was informational; staff said they will return with further details and metrics at the June meeting when final state budget numbers are available.
