At its May 27 meeting the Merced City School District Board approved a series of personnel actions to extend or amend employment contracts for senior administrators and to designate the human resources executive officer as a senior management position.
Doctor Don Hubbell summarized material contract terms and recommended the board approve amended agreements that generally take effect July 1, 2025, run for multi‑year terms and include base salary lines, vacation and standard certificated manager benefits. Example base salaries noted in the presentation included $212,676 for the assistant superintendent and $212,153 for the chief business officer.
The board approved the annual Declaration of Need for fully qualified educators earlier in the meeting and subsequently took votes on contract approvals. The salary schedules and several amended employment agreements were approved by roll call; most passed unanimously. On several HR‑designation and appointment items (including the resolution to designate the human resources executive officer as a senior management position and the appointment votes described in the packet) Trustee Clark Delgado cast the lone dissent; other trustees voted in favor.
Board discussion before votes included questions about contract terms, evaluation timelines, and the district—s approach to ensuring continuity if funding sources change. Complete copies of the contracts were noted as available from the district office on request.
Next steps: staff will finalize and execute the approved agreements and share full contract text and any related budgeting implications with the board.
