Show Low board honors students and staff for academic and extracurricular excellence

At its April meeting the Show Low School District board recognized junior-high and high-school students and staff for academic achievement, music competition results and community service, highlighting several students who earned college credits, scholarships and superior music ratings.
The Show Low School District board opened its April meeting with a series of recognitions for students and staff from across the district.
Junior high principal (speaker S6) praised students for embodying the district character trait of the month, excellence, and noted Brooklyn Jaramillo was being celebrated privately due to a track meet. S6 said Cadence Southworth “is continually striving for excellence” and highlighted staff member Marisela Ramirez for “exemplary service and unwavering commitment” while describing long shifts and staffing challenges she has navigated.
At the high-school presentation, the district recognized Nikki Muserall for 19 years in education and service to environmental science and extracurricular programs. The presenter (S9) noted students Bailey (a 4.478 GPA who has earned an associate degree through Northland Pioneer College and received the Lumberjack Scholarship) and Seth McDowell (4.478 GPA, top ACT and ASVAB scores, an associate degree and scholarship offers) for their academic and extracurricular accomplishments.
Junior-high band, string orchestra and choir members were also recognized after earning superior ratings at the regional music festival; teachers and students stood for photographs and the board acknowledged their achievements.
The board took photos, thanked families and moved on to the remainder of its agenda. The recognitions were ceremonial; no formal board action was required.
