Stockton Unified board approves multiple contracts, curriculum renewals and personnel actions; several expulsions draw split votes

At its March 25 meeting, the Stockton Unified Board of Trustees approved a broad slate of fiscal and programmatic items and took votes on several student expulsions.

Key approvals included adoption of Resolution 24-71 recognizing Administrator Professional Week and a purchase for the Stockton Unified Police Department of a Milo Range Advanced System (both approved on roll call 6–0, Trustee Flores absent). The board also approved multiple curriculum renewals and subscriptions — including Benchmark Adelante, I-Ready diagnostic and instruction tools, Sabas ELA for secondary grades and summer reading materials tied to the Beanstack platform — along with purchases for expanded-learning programs and classroom furniture. Several construction change orders and an easement dedication to Pacific Gas & Electric (Resolution 24-72) were adopted by roll call votes recorded as passing.

Trustees voted on a set of student expulsions with mixed outcomes. Item 15.1 failed on a 3–3 roll call (Trustees Donald Donaire, Frank Silva and Trustee Priess voted no; Trustee Flores absent). Item 15.2 likewise failed 3–3 with the same no votes recorded. Item 15.3 passed 6–0. Item 15.4 passed 5–1 with Clerk Donald Donaire recorded as voting no. Item 15.5 passed 5–1 with Clerk Donaire again recorded as voting no. The board’s actions show unanimous support on many procurement and curriculum matters but divided votes on some disciplinary cases.

Several labor and negotiation items also advanced: the board adopted initial proposals for upcoming negotiations with multiple bargaining units and authorized the district negotiating team to proceed. The board approved vendor payments for February 2025 and an E-Rate Wi‑Fi upgrade contract for district technology services.
