Board approves emergency bleacher repairs and temporary special‑needs transportation contracts

The board approved two contracts on the consent agenda: a contract with d D and d Construction to repair rotted wood, stairs and press‑box siding at the district stadium and a contract with First Alt Service/First Student to provide door‑to‑door transportation for two special‑needs students who currently attend out‑of‑district schools.

Gabe, the staff presenter, described the bleacher work as a phased safety project: “first part is gonna be all the safety issues so people will be able to safely utilize the bleachers, and that'll be definitely done by the first game,” and said siding work around the press box would follow. When asked about funding, Gabe said the district plans to use the restricted routine maintenance account; the project is bond‑eligible but will be held in the maintenance account unless other unanticipated emergency needs arise.

On transportation, staff said First Alt Service/First Student will provide vans with the necessary equipment and drivers for two students who live in the district but attend schools outside the district until the district secures the equipment and drivers; staff described the contract as addressing an immediate operational need rather than an IEP entitlement to new services.

Both motions were moved, seconded and approved on the consent agenda with brief roll calls and an affirmative voice vote recorded for the items.
