Cusseta-Chattahoochee commissioners approve multiple bids: roads, dock, storage, City Hall work and dog-pound expansion
Summary
At the Oct. 7 meeting the commission unanimously approved advertising road paving bids for Riverbend and Liberty Hill roads, accepted a dock bid, awarded several construction contracts (storage building, City Hall welcome center, dog-pound expansion), declared two buildings surplus, and reappointed Rob Marion to the River Valley Regional Commission.
The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta-Chattahoochee County approved a slate of projects and contract awards at its Oct. 7 regular meeting, voting unanimously on each item.
Commissioners voted to solicit bids for paving Riverbend Road and Liberty Hill Road (motion by Commissioner Timothy Biddle, seconded by Commissioner Jason Frost). The board accepted the sole bid for the Riverbend Fishing Dock Project and awarded the contract to Wahoo Dock. For the storage building at 215 McNaughton St., the commission awarded the concrete slab contract to Chattahoochee Concrete and the building contract to North Carolina Carports. The welcome-center refurbishment at City Hall was awarded to the lower bidder, Chattahoochee Concrete.
The board approved expansion work at the Cusseta dog pound: concrete to Rock Solid Construction, fencing to United Fencing, and the building installation to McGuire Buildings. Commissioners also declared two county-owned structures—one on King Street and the old fire station on Fire Tower Road—surplus and authorized demolition while attempting to retain the old fire-station slab for possible reuse.
Separately, County staff told the board that resurfacing of Friendship Road is scheduled to begin Dec. 1 with a cost estimate of about $106,000 and that staff aim to complete repair work before resurfacing. The commission also approved the reappointment of Rob Marion to the River Valley Regional Commission for a two-year term starting Oct. 7, 2025.
All motions on project awards and declarations were recorded as unanimous in the minutes.
