Region 15 board approves multiple policies, authorizes solar grant application and establishes building committee

At the March 23 meeting the Region 15 Board approved a package of policy updates (public complaints, investment of funds, harassment, work-study and graduation requirements, library material review and related policies) as presented by the policy and curriculum committee.
The board also voted to authorize staff to apply to the state commissioner of administrative services for a grant to install solar at Longmeadow Elementary School, established a building committee for the project, and approved preparation of schematic drawings and outline specifications. The board approved a transfer entry of $422,981 to reclassify capital-plan funds to support the state application process for the solar work.
The board set Pompanoag High School’s graduation date for June 20, 2026 and approved the district’s miscellaneous salary rate schedule for 2026–27 as recommended by the finance committee. These items were approved as separate motions and carried without recorded opposition.
Staff said the solar schematic work is intended to clarify scope for the grant application and capital plan; finance staff noted the transfer is a reclassification of existing capital-plan dollars rather than new dollars being added to the budget.
