District APR rises but attendance metric remains a challenge, superintendent and presenters say

District staff told the board that the Annual Performance Report (APR) shows steady improvement under MSIP‑6: ISD's APR rose from 70.1 in 2022 to 80.5 in the latest cycle.
"We've seen a steady upward trajectory in our APR growing every single year from 70.1 in 2022 to 80.5 this past year," Dr. Pam Boatwright said, describing gains across several indicators including MAP scores and graduation rate. Boatwright explained the difference between "status" (a point‑in‑time measure) and "growth" (change over time) and walked through components of the APR such as CCR/advanced credits, ICAP and continuous improvement documentation.
But attendance remains an area of concern: Boatwright and district staff noted the district received "0 out of 4" on the attendance metric because too few students met the 90% attendance threshold used in the state calculation. Board members asked for more granular data — for example, how many students sit at 89% versus 90% so targeted interventions can be designed — and Boatwright said leaders will provide those breakdowns in the weekly update.
The presentation also covered a climate and culture survey process and noted the district will submit MSIP materials to DESE this December. Board members praised staff for gains while pressing for follow-up on attendance drivers and family outreach strategies.
The board received the APR presentation and will be sent the slides and additional attendance detail.
