A motion was made on the floor to amend the draft policy to re‑add "superintendent or designee" to the committee roles; that amendment passed unanimously by roll call (7 ayes). Proponents said the procurement committee already includes administrative staff, and adding committee oversight for sub‑$50,000 contracts would provide a fuller picture of district contracting patterns. "If they're not going to the right contractors, the committee needs to know and try to make a course correction," a proponent said.
Board members emphasized that committee recommendations will still come before the full board for approval and that the amendment was intended to add reporting and review—not to supplant administrative responsibilities.
The board is expected to publish or make available periodic procurement reports as directed by the revised policy; the policy will be implemented through the procurement committee with administrative staff participation.
